Puppy Imprinting

The most critical window in a dog’s life is between 6 and 16 weeks; in fact, it begins at 21 days, but that is the breeder's responsibility. During this time, every interaction and every environment shapes their future temperament, confidence, and work ethic.

At The K9 Protocol, we don’t do "Puppy Preschool." We offer Puppy Imprinting—a structured, high-precision foundation designed to install the correct "software" in your puppy before bad habits can even begin.

The Imprinting Protocol
We work with both high-drive working prospects and family companions to build a resilient, focused, and neutral dog. Our imprinting process focuses on four key pillars:

Engagement & Motivation: We teach your puppy that you are the most valuable thing in their world. We build a powerful "desire to work" by using their natural drives (food or play) to create intense focus and engagement.

Marker Systems: We install a clear communication system. Your puppy learns exactly when they have done something right, creating a dog that is "active" in the learning process rather than just a passive participant.

Environmental Neutrality: Standard socialisation often involves "meeting everyone and everything," which can lead to over-arousal or fear. We focus on neutrality—teaching your puppy to remain calm, confident, and focused on you, regardless of distractions.

Foundation Mechanics: We introduce the basics of leash pressure, crate manners, and threshold control in an age-appropriate, stress-free way, setting the stage for advanced obedience later on.

Handler Education: Building the Team
A puppy is only as good as the person holding the leash. Our imprinting sessions are as much about coaching the handler as they are about the pup.

We teach you:
How to read your puppy’s body language and drive states.
How to manage their environment to prevent problem behaviours.
The mechanics of reward delivery and timing.
Start Right, Finish Strong

Whether you are preparing a dog for high-level sport, professional work, or simply want the most reliable family companion possible, the imprinting phase is where the "win" happens.

Don’t leave your puppy’s development to chance. Install the protocol from day one.
